Oil Equivalent

i need some info from yall, i'm using 20W-50 motor oil in this big block of mine. i need to know what type of FULLY SYNTHETIC motor oil is the equivalent to 20W-50 regular motor oil? thanks and everyone have a happy holiday. C.J.

15w-50 Mobil Supersyn is the ONLY real synthetic currently available over the counter at Walmarts ect and will replace that 20w-50 with ease .

The Castrol 0w-30 is a true synthetic but it's only available at Autozones as far as I have seen .

Synthetic viscosity is the same as regular oil viscosity. 10W30 dino = 10W30 synthetic

But the film strength of the synthetic is much higher so actually a step down in wts will be a logical choice without loss of protection all else equal .

50wt mineral
40wt synthetic

In support of what TritonV10 said, here is what Redlineoil says about their synthetic 10w40: "Features a thicker oil film at operating temperature than a petro-based 20W-50."
