As I walked out of the house this morning, I noticed that the Excursion's interior lights were on, but the running board lights were not on. Anyway, as I walked up to the Ex to check this out, the lights went off! I never got close enough to the Ex to touch a thing.
I did look in the windows and the doors were locked and there was no one inside. Where the Ex is parked, it is extremely unlikely that anyone had just walked up to her and tried the door handles.
Any ideas on what would cause such weird behavior?
Had similar problem on a different vehicle. Sometimes it would set my alarm off, usually in the middle of the night. Ended up being a bad switch that was in the door jam... maybe that's what's happening?
Yep, could be a sticking switch. Do you use your remote keyless entry? If not try using it for a few weeks.
Click the lock button on the fob twice and you should get a single horn beep. If you get a double beep, it means there is a door that thinks it is still open. Could be the sticky switch will only happen occasionally but you want to find it so it doesn't run down your battery overnight.
