I appreciate you passing that Valvo. tech. quote along. I have been using Dura-Blend 5w30 in all my vehicles for several years now and have no desire to switch. Also, I always run a quart of Rislone, which is essentially a 5W-20/25 oil base with extra additives. So maybe I am getting the best of both worlds with this setup. I still generally change the oil every 3000 though.

PS. I have had Valvo Techs tell me some rather interesting things. I believe (searching my memory) they indicated a high ratio of synthetic to their DuraBlend (30-40% I think) and that they did not get to supply the Motorcraft oil because they are too expensive (implys Valvo may be better than the stuff labeled Motorcraft?).

TALLPAUL,
Thanks for your input towards Dura-Blend too.
Valovline's tech. line is pretty good, ask them a question and they'll give you a straight answer.
Mobil Syn-Blend is now being made for high mileage vehicles(or so the label says), but only in 10w-30. I'd wonder if Valvoline might do the same think.(I haven't tried to ask them yet.)

Valvoline

i've been using max-life 10/30 in my '77 ford 302 primarily since it came out. i have a rear main small leak along with other various leaks (the guy who had it before me didn't take care of the girl!). i'm getting the leaks one at a time (changed valve gasket yesterday). i've used other oils occasionally when i couldn't get the max, but i can say that the valvoline definitly slows the leak down. so its definitly not a cure, but i'm not gonna use anything else. no complaints. suggestion buy by the case.
