Shop manual says "...except diesel...".

1961 Ford Mercury Heavy 850-1110 Truck Canadian Repair Shop Manual Original

If there wasn't a diesel, they wouldn't have excluded it.

This doesn't prove there were oil burners, only that this edition excludes them.

A 1963 oil burner:

What is said to a '61 in a '62 movie, "Diesel" badge clearly visible:

Another clear and legit looking pic:

I am here to learn and share information, not to fight. I would think most people would want to know accurate information. Here is the Ford manual.

[QUOTE=78_f800crewcab4x4;11319979]I now this doesn't prove anything. But we need to I D the subjects in the photo, and have a talk with them about what they know about the truck. I'm waiting with popcorn.

It's a foreign truck, possibly from Brazil.

The Brazilians kept the '57-'60 style a lot longer than we did in the USA. They kept it until 1971.

The 1967-1972 style was introduced in 1972 in Brazil, and lasted until the early 90's.

Even if it's not from Brazil, it's still foreign, so it being a diesel is inconclusive. Different rules to ours.

Interesting, as the word for truck in the pic translates as Finnish. No Finnish influence in South America afaik. But I think it well known that the earlier models were kept in SA as you say.

Well, that's 4 things.

--your original "interesting" posts of the press release and advertising.
--clear pics "from the day"
--pics of a truck with the story about the owner
--two manuals, the one I found and the one you found, both referencing a diesel model.

Why it isn't the parts books ND has, no one will ever know.

Sadly, after almost 3 weeks and 3 pages of useless pissing contest, Big ole Ford has never returned to this thread to tell about this truck.
It would have been interesting to find out what the old truck was, but I am afraid all this fussin has chased him off FTE.

By the responses to this thread, I believe I can answer may own question. Yes, waste of time. I'll keep my mountain of offical Ford Truck documents to myself. Doesn't anyone appreciate the truth around here? I have provided overwhelming factual evidence and treated like I am trolling. The dummy provided nothing but hot air and incorrect "parts book" claims. How long has he been doing this? Notice how he dissappeared on this one?

Your standards for what others should accept as the "truth" are low.

"Official Ford Truck documents"--I already explained why I thought what you posted isn't "proof" the trucks existed. You apparently can't understand the points I tried to make.

How do you know ND made "incorrect 'parts book' claims"? Do you have the parts books?

You did not provide "overwhelming factual evidence". You provided printed materials and advertising art.

You are convinced you are correct in this case, and so be it. You can answer your own questions, and I'm sure you'll always get the answer you're looking for.
