Control differences between E4OD and 4R70W
I have been looking for an affordable TCU to run my '92 E4OD so I could maybe get rid of the factory EEC-IV unit. I was hopeful when I read Car Craft mag this month. The EZ TCU unit looked great but a call to them revealed that it won't really run the E4OD. And the only listing on Summit is GM.
And the Smart Shift guy also said that his would not run the E4OD but would run the 4R70W ('92-'97, he said).
So I am curious as to any differences in control signals between the two trannies. Why can't the unit run both?
