cheating when fishing
Do you use "illegal" tackle like using treble hooks when rules call for single hooks?
Do you keep more fish than you are legally allowed?
Do you buy a license?
Do you fish with bait in a no bait area?
Do you pray that the game warden is not visiting your waters when you are out?
Personally I don't because it is illegal, wrong and the game warden can make your summer miserable.
Not worth the consequences with our "Fish ****'s". A few of the wardens are friends, just doing their job, but our New Commish doesn't have a clue unless it has to do with REVENUE!
Here, with last year's & worse, the NEW 2003 Regs, if you are salmon fishing & have a circle hook with a barb, it had better be crimped severely. A friend almost lost his boat because a warden boarded, used a cotton ball to "snag" the crimped barb. If it had caught a strand of cotton.....bye bye boat.
If you are fishing for salmon... better not have any other hooks on-board.......NOT legal.
Rock fishing off the coast has dramatically changed this year.
We have more regs. than fish in the lakes, rivers & ocean. Our huge "recreational" fishing groups have had to resort to threats of class-action lawsuits to stop the "clandestine regulation changes" that the new Commish has been trying to SNEAK through to promote REVENUE.
It's been an uphill battle for those of us who spend A....LOT of $'s just to have fun & fish for dinner.
Damn, I HATE Politics!

By the way, anybody here in NY get their license yet this year. Interesting setup they've got now.
They went from the old sheet of paper with a stamp for each endorsement, to an online database. They have to enter all your data, and print you up a little credit card size laminated paper job...
Suddenly my "big-brother is watching you" paranoia is kicking in, but why do they need me in a database to catch trout?
Also, as an added slap in the face, it's up to $19 this year.
Oh well. Here fishy, fishy......
There are alot of ignorant people in my area, for example; the local stores sell a popular herring rig that comes with 6 hooks on one leader, unfortunately, the PA state law limits you to 3 hooks per pole, and these stupid people think it is legal to use 6 hooks because that is how the rig comes. We have alot of problems with various immigrants in our area that will take anything and everything they can get their hands on, whether they have a license to fish or not. We had to physically threaten 3 asian men last year because they refused to release a 25 inch striper that was out of season and under the minimum length. Also we should keep an eye on young kids while fishing, if they are mistreating the fish it would be a good idea to walk over and teach them a few things about the ethics and laws of taking fish and game. Children generally mean no harm and should be taught the right way to fish. You could do no harm showing them a few good knots also.
You get caught here, you lose boat, trailer, truck and everything else involved as well as a very hefty fine.
My father-in-law used to work for BC Fish and Wildlife, and would show me the stuff they seized. Also the stories he had about visiting anglers and hunters would fill volumes.
Play by the rules when fishing "Beautiful British Columbia".

Now for some reason, the fishing just isn't as good as it was.
My wife bugs me because i have $10,000 worth of fishing gear and never bring home a fish. Same holds true for moose hunting here.
My attitude is that if you hunt or fish just for the game , then you have it all wrong.

I think the whole idea is the boat, the water, the sun and the beer. If you catch something............................that's a bonus!
