P2182- Engine Coolant Sensor

P2182, has anybody else had this problem? I have an appointment to have it looked at tomorrow. Its says on the code reader engine coolant sensor. I also plan to tell the dealer about some rough shifting. Only thing is, I just passed 36,000 miles, but the light came on around 35,900 so I took a picture. Do you think I will have a problem getting it warrantied?

Warranty. Really depends on the dealer, being that close and your pic I would hope they would.

I agree with Hdslider. It all depends on your dealer. I know one dealer in my area that would work with me and another dealer on the other side of town that would tell me too bad.

Wouldn't he still be covered anyways. Thought the motor was 5 yr 100,000 mile warranty?

Good point, now I am not sure, I'll have to look that up.

Engine is covered. Not electrical sensors.

Some are, but apparently not this one.

But being so close, and the light coming on before the 36,000mi should get me in the clear. I hope?

I would think so. Where are you going. Curious since I am close. You can just give one portion of the name and I can figure the rest, or pm me

Cheers

Yeah, will depend on the dealer.
I think the picture will help.

Same thing in my area.
My dealer I know would work with me depending on the circumstances, the other probably wouldn't.
Glad the other was bought up by the good dealer a few weeks ago although now there's no competition.

Cheezit/Vloney, does the computer log a date/time when a CEL occurs where you can read it in IDS?

P2182 relates to a issue with the ECT sensor for the secondary cooling system, aka ECT2. It should be covered under warranty with no issue and in your case it should fall under the emissions warranty based on your current mileage.

ECT Sensor Warranty Coverage...

0 - 36,000: Bumper to Bumper Warranty (3yr/36,000)
36,001 - 50,000: Emissions Warranty (5yr/50,000)
50,001 - 100,000: Diesel Engine Warranty (5yr/100,000)

Today they found out the secondary coolant temp senson was bad, and also the thermostat was bad on the same system. Warranty covered it as well as my transmission issues in which they ordered some solenoids. I'll report back after I get my truck back tomorrow.
