When I backed the '05 into the garage this evening, I heard a clunk when going over the bump into the garage and also once I started jumping a little on the running board.
At first I was thinking it might be shocks, as they are still the factory ones, but at 57k, it seems likely that they're bad but not like clunking bad.
Then I got to wondering, I believe it has a rear sway bar being an '05 with the tow package. A long time ago, I would get in my '02 and go over the end of the driveway and get a clunk from the front. Replaced the front sway bar end links and it fixed it.
Does the factory rear sway bar have end links like the front that could go bad and make such noises?
Your '05 is a V-10 so I'm not sure, but did you check your exhaust? I know this is comparing apples to oranges but on my 7.3L exhaust it seems like once a year I need to adjust the hod down points after I hear cluncking coming from the rear mount as it moves and hits the rear springs or the tranny crossover mount.
Hmm, interesting. I haven't checked the exhaust, but I kinda doubt that would be it. I don't remember that noise before, and it hasn't been out on the road since September, so it couldn't have really vibrated loose. I'll look into this though, thanks!
Considering how close to the floor the brake controller was mounted (any farther and it would have been behind the dash), I don't think it did much towing in the past. But I did check when I was under there anyway, since it did have the intake and gauge mods already.
