online banking virus
I don't know how widespread this is, but from what I read, it's pretty scary.
There apparently is a virus that will wait patiently until you do some online banking. It will then use that information to go after your account. (I saw one part that said it might ask you for extra info, but the article was pretty vague).
The devious part is that it will hook you up to its own web pages that make it look as if everything is normal. The only thing that I can figure is that it adds a link to a site that accesses your info and then makes pages that look identical to your banks.
You won't know about this until you do one of the following:
1. Access your account from another computer
2. Use an ATM
3. Get a paper statement
4. Have one of your cards declined.
As I said, I don't know much about this -- I just saw one brief article. But it sounded pretty bad.
