Is this right?

According to the axle code I should have a Dana with a 3.54 gear ratio. When I run the calculator it says I should be running at 64mph at 2500 rpm.

Now when I use my phone's GPS I am running at 55mph at 2500 rpm which translates to a 4.11. I guess it could be that the PO had changed the gears in the rear end... But he didn't keep any other part of the truck up.

From your sig pic I can't see the trademark hub of a full floater. If this is true the axle has been changed because the 8700#gvw should have only came with a Dana full floater instead of the 8.8 ford 8 bolt that I see.

Here is a pic of the diff. I'm sorry it's so dirty but hopefully it'll give you an idea of what I have...

I believe this is still a Dana (Spicer) axle. But not sure what ratio. From what I've been able to calculate it's a 4.11

Edit: I'm fixing the exhaust... Please ignore that.

Looks like a Dana70U to me. See that tag on the left side of the cover held on by the bolts? That should have the axle ratio stamped in it.

I'll have to take the power washer to it if we get another good day around here. The main reason I wanted to know is I'm trying to figure out which speedo gear I need. Would you (or anyone) know how many teeth the drive gear has?

Edit: Borg Warner T-19 transmission.

You will have to feel inside and count the teeth. I used a jack knife and stuck it in the hole and counted the bumps. What you want is 1000 rev's per mile on the speedo.
For example I have 3.54's
Drive gear is 7 teeth
Driven gear (on the cable) is 16 teeth.

You may have a 7 tooth so in theory you would need something higher like an 18 tooth if its 4.10. If you have 3.54 itshould be the same as mine.

If I'm thinking of this correctly, more teeth would cause the cable to spin faster and thus give me a more correct reading on the speedo. Right now it reads about 10 mph slow.

If it reads slow now that would be opposite of a 3.54 to 4.10 swap. If in fact you have 4.10's with speedo set up for 3.54's the speedo would read faster then the truck is going. Who knows someone my have the wrong gear in there. Pull the cable and report back what gear you currently have in there. They are coded by color but also on the bottom of the gear it should state the number of teeth, for example 16T, 18T etc.
