hey guys..buying a new 2012 fx4 supercrew oxford white in early to mid feb. as soon as my income taxes hits the bank ill have enough to buy one outright with no payments.. so im trying to get my ducks in a row since this is only a couple weeks away..
2012 fx4 screw oxford white.. gonna go with the stock 18s since ill be lifting it soon after i get it.. and not getting the indash nav or sunroof unless i get an awesome deal so basically its gonna be a basic FX4 but im curious if i should get leather seats or not.. does anybody have cloth seats and regret not getting leather? not that much difference in price tag well not enough to make or break the deal.. so should i get leather or not? plan on getting some custom fitted camo seat covers but is the leather more of a comfortable seat than the cloth? ive had both leather and cloth but my azz cant remember well
My 2012 xlt is oxford white with the grey or silver cloth interior and it is very comfortable and actually very nice looking, couldn't be more pleased with the way it turned out.......besides, cloth is warm in the winter and cool in the summer, generally speaking of course!
X1 on ^. I personally don't like leather seats in a truck. Always end up being torn on the sides from the funny way people, including me, get out of a truck. They are easier to clean and the climate control function is nice. I just like cloth seats in a truck.

last time I looked, leather seats were about a $1k option. I know I paid $1,200 for them in my Expy, and my old F-150 was $9xx.xx for them.
as far as comfort, I've seen posts where guys with leather seats have found more padding than the cloth. I know I personally think they are more comfy.
another thing to consider is that the cloth seats stain if you look at them sideways while thinking about moisture. You said you plan on seat covers, which are pretty much a requirement IMO with the cloth.
if you take care of the leather with proper cleaning and oiling, they'll last forever. I clean mine about once a month and they look pretty darn good for being 5yrs old in the truck (like new IMO), and 3yrs in the Expy. Leather doesn't like to be neglected.
I've always been a cloth seat guy so I've always owned XLTs until I bought my 2011 FX4. I ordered my FX4 so I could get a SCAB with cloth seats. Most of the FX4s on the dealer lots around here are SCREWS with leather seats.
I love the cloth seats in my FX4. They feel softer and more plush than the cloth seats in my 06 XLT did. I blew my back out in the summer of 2010 and the seats in my 06 XLT would bother my back after a while. I'd have to get out and stretch my back after about an hour of driving. This got to be a pain in the rear and back on long trips. Part of this may have been because my XLT seat wasn't power so it may not've had enough adjustment to conform to my back. I dunno?? but I can drive for a few hours in my FX4 before I need to get out and stretch my back.
I just picked up 2011 oxford white FX4 crew with cloth seats. The seats are black with blue stitching. They look great and are very comfy. My 2006 fx4 had leather and no differance.
I don't know how much the FX4 packages have changed since I bought mine in 2010, but back then you had to get cloth if you stuck with the 18" wheels... Only 20s and leather were available and it was a pretty hefty price hike. I got cloth and then got really high quality seat covers that no one can tell are after market. They look great! The heated or cooled seats would have been kinda neat, but I certainly don't miss them.

The packages must have changed a little since then. I ordered my '11 FX4 with cloth and 20's.
I had my 06 FX4 screw with 18's for just over 5 years with heated leather seats and I enjoyed them every day. Easy to clean and were nice and warm. I conditioned them a few times a year and they still looked great when I traded the truck in. I just picked up my new 2012 FX4 screw also with 18's Thursday afternoon with cloth and I found that my *** was cold from the time I got in the truck in the morning until I got out of it at suppertime. When I ordered mine to get leather the package was around $3000 and came with a 6-pack cd player and power sliding rear window which I never used in my 06 and didn't want in my 12. I wish Ford offered the heated seat option for cloth in the FX4.
Leather is much easier to keep clean, My personal truck is a 2011 FX4 with leather and my work truck is a 2012 f350 with cloth every little thing that touches the cloth leaves a stain, even if you get a drop of water or the condensation from from a soda bottle will leave a ring on the seats. My 2006 with cloth did the same thing. If you spill something on the leather you just wipe it off and no stain.
