TAILGATE HINGE MEASUREMENTS

I need to verify some measurements for tailgate hinges on a '53

I need the measurement from the bottom of the stake pocket to the center of the bottom hole in the hinge

And

the measurement from the outside edge of the stake pocket to the center line of the holes...

I think the first one is 2-3/4" but want to make sure

thanks

John

On my green truck its 2-7/8 up from the bottom, and 1-3/16 from the outside edge of the stake pocket.

thanks Sam

Mid 50 gave me a measurement of 17 5/8 down from the 45° break in the side wall down to the top of the hinge... and she said, "that's pretty close"... I don't do pretty close well....

I'd trust your measurements over anyone's... hopefully Sunday I'm gonna take all the bed crap off the truck and start assembling on a set of horses (saw horses)... once it's square and level, drill the front panel and work back.. maybe if I do right, the roll pan might match up better... (challange # 243.4)

is your front panel bolted from the bend over of the bed wall up thru the ears of the front panel ?>?

catalog shows it should be... my sides are only drilled for the fenders so I don't have a clue about any other holes needed.

Yes, mine has bolts up thru the ears. The ears have the nuts welded on.
here is a pic of the ear on my bed, you can see where the nut retainer was welded to the front wall top rail..
