Hi all I use to think I was pretty mechanicly inclined, but I think my truck wants to prove me wrong. I have posted a couple other threads regarding an idle problem and work to try to resolve it. I thought I had fixed it but it started idling how ever it wanted, but now when I shut it off last night I could here gas boiling in the carb. It was 60 degrees out side and my truck was running about 200. I have the EGR plate underneith a 1 inch spacer which my carb sits on top. A little breakdown its a 77 F250 with a 460 backed by a C6 stock except for a 620 CFM carter and an electric fuel pump and a fuel regulator set at about 4PSI. PLEASE any seggestion would be greatly appreciated. I m thinking it may be something to do with the EGR valve or plate.
Thnk you in advance
I wonder if the carb is just getting to hot and messing up the fuel mixture? any way of directing air to the card and running it to see, i really not sure what to say?
Thank you for your responses I am sure it was fuel boiling in the carb I could see a little splashing. I have been doing a little research and other people have had the same problem. One person just put in a spacer and it had solved his problem. Another person was talking about an exhaust valve that is stuck closed. I am wondering I have a plate under the carb that has the EGR connected to it. If the valve was to get stuck open would that heat up the carb. Or I don't know where else to look the fuel line runs near the exhaust manifold as well maybe that contributes to it as well. I have heard of this problem years ago, but have forgotten any details that I might have learned from it. Once again thank you.
I will readjust the PSI to about 5 to 5 and a half. I have the EGR plate and then on top of that I have an aluminum 1 inch spacer. There are regular gaskets inbetween them. If the EGR plate is damage can I remove until I get a new one. I priced them and they are around $100.00. Money is tight right now. Also would that cause the fuel to boil. Also is that to much spacer I bought it set up like that, but it yet to run right.

There is one EGR/carb spacer plate, not two. The original factory installed plate was aluminum, before too long, heat caused the little charmer to MELT internally! The Ford service part replacement plate was cast iron.
