I have tried to disable this annoying feature by both methods- 1) The key trick and hitting unlock 3 times yada-yada-yada and 2) with my keyless entry keypad which isn't factory, so no big surprise that it didn't work that way either. Do I have no other choice but to go get screwed by the dealer?
The only thing I can suggest, is make sure you understand the LOCK-OFF-ON-RUN positions. Check your manual, because the positions may not be what you expect.

Yeah, no kidding it's not what one would expect. But I did look at the diagrams and I'm sure I'm doing it right. Is it possible that some certain individual trucks don't "take" this way?
I would double check the instructions in your manual and make sure you are doing it exactly as it says. Also make sure you complete the process in less than 30 seconds.
The only reason for it to not work is if you aren't doing it properly. Took me a couple tries to get it right on mine.
Just finished playing with it some more. No way, no how does it seem to accept the procedure. The truck does have a gay, aftermarket alarm system installed, so I'll assume that is to blame. To the dealer I guess and pay $50.

Yes, the alarm could have something to do with it.
Is the dealership able to somehow disable it through the computer? Or do they just do the same procedure in the owners manual and charge you 50 bucks for it?

Talked to the clowns there today and they say they'll be able to do it thru the computer. Takes quite awhile to do so that's hy they said about $50.
