Tranny wont shift???
Well, I went 4wheelin pretty hard with my truck. When I got home it seemed like everything was fine. But the next day I went out to drive it, and it wouldn’t start. I thought it was something in the ignition system. So I replaced everything to the solenoid and it still didn’t start. So I bump started it from the solenoid. The truck started right up! But when I went to shift it into gear, it wouldn’t shift but from park to reverse?? I thought something must be in the linkage since I had buried to the doors the night before, but there is no problem with my linkage. What do you guys think, tranny gone?

you probably got crap inside your tranny. you might want to pull the pan and change out your fluid and filter. also possible that the linkage is bent. what year is your rig, tranny type . need info on rig.

I took the linkage apart and checked out the shaft that goes into the tranny, it would move enough to get it into park and reverse but that is it. I don’t see how anything could get into the tranny though?

you would be suprised but ive seen it before. mud and water always find a way to get into places that it shouldnt. have you checked your tranny fluid. does it smell like rotten eggs, or does it look milky or discolored?

I hanent just because I didnt think there was a way for water to get in there. I did however find a vacume line at the top of the transfer case broken off it would of had to of taken on some water.. Are those cases open to each other?
