I've just purchased a new car and the dealer offered a Teflon paint sealant. I turned it down because they wanted several hundred dollars, but I'm wondering if these types of things work. I've found them priced at about $20 a bottle and want to know if anyone has used these products and does it make a difference?
Thanks in advance.

Teflon protectants are a gimmick.
Dupont says a item must be heated to 600 degrees for teflon to bond.
Slick 50 and many others products with teflon are snake oil.
Ditto- save your money. Classic Car Wax, Maguiar's #26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax, or Dri Wash 'N Gard are the only products that should go onto a brand-new finish.

I have had good luck with Dri Wash 'N Guard also. Just can't
seem to get myself to put it on a dirty surface without washing
it with water first!!!!
I agree. One of the guys at work was floggin' the stuff some time ago. I couldn't bring myself to use it over dirt either. Works good under the hood tho'.
Now all I use is "NuFinish Paste Wax" and "Forward" cleaner.
I also have had good luck with Blue Coral AutoFom, which is no
longer made!! A friend of mine bought me a case of it, when it
was available, so hopefully it will last awhile. It doesn't have any
abraisives in it, so there are no swirl marks...
it takes 600 degrees to make it stick....and dealers buff the wax in....and theoretically the buffer heats the paint up to seal the wax in.....
in my experience, Meguiar's #24 paste wax and other top notch carnauba waxes from Brazil....last as much as if not longer than the teflon wax....
Just make sure to wash from top to bottom and not let the vehicle get too out of hand dirty.....
whenever the water doesn't bead anymore...clean up well and seal with wax once more......if oxidation takes place, use a mild polish like 3M's finesse it...
or imperial hand glaze....then wax...
