Question about Flairside Bed

I recently picked up a Flairside bed for my 77 F150. When picking the bed up I remember seeing some blocks of wood stuck to the bottom of the bed. I didn't keep any of them and now I see that there is a "bed mount block kit" available from LMC for $110. My question is, do I need these blocks between the frame and bed or can I mount it directly to the frame? Whats thier purpose are they for leveling the bed with the cab? If so could I use treated lumber and make my own? Has anyone made thier own (size of blocks) ?

Thanks

Those blocks go under the crossmembers for the bed. I believe they level out the bed on the frame. You could probably make them if your good, but if you look at the picture on LMC, they are kind of funky shaped.

I hope that helped a little bit

I have a long bed flareside that I could get you measurements for, but I'm going to assume you have a short bed (more common), and I seen on LMC the two must be different. If I can help let me know.
