I'm simply surveying here so I can have a more educated guess at proactively changing my ICP sensors on my 7.3's. Tell me when your ICP sensor failed (as best as you can recall), and whether or not you were running a stock HPOP at the time of failure.
Personally, I'm at 211,000 miles on one engine with no failure, and not sure of the mileage on the Ex, but no failure on it. Benjamin's just went out yesterday at about 285,000 miles.
162,000 miles. Just read this thread and went outside to check the plug since I haven't checked it in over a year. Full of oil so I'll order a new sensor tonight.
Related question. Benjamin just put in his new ICP sensor and the truck started up fine, but has a sort of lopey idle at the moment. He did not disconnect the HPOP lines, so I would not expect there to be any air in the system, or can it get air just from changing the sensor and require driving it around a bit to expel the air?
Mine at 203,300. Started idling real rough one morning, had oil in plug, cleaned it and okay. Replaced it anyway. Stock hpop.
No issues after replacing sensor.
Simple but a bit pricey.
