Hey Mike! That train yard looks like the old San Jose Ford Plant, The hills in the background give it away. The old WP lines go from the San Jose Plant (Milpitas) to the old GM Plant (Formally NUMI, now Tesla) in Fremont just a few miles away. That line was active until 2010, now it sits idle, sad.

You're right. IIRC that picture was taken in August of '78 so those are either the last of the '78's or the first of the'79's.
Finally found the info on the picture. Yup, it was Milpitas and the picture was taken Aug. 1, 1978

Thanks Rat77 for starting this enjoyable thread! I do have a question. Does anyone know what that square item on the front fender is? When I saw this this morning I thought I would wait and see if someone mentioned it but so far; nope...
Steve, The Milpitas plant turned out some fine steel in it's day! Both mine were from there. I wonder what the numbers really were?

You aren't talking about the F250/350 emblem are you?
I see what Oldsyles talking about, looks like something below the emblem to me, cant tell what it is. Amazing how undated these trucks look in these pix, looks like it could have been taken yesterday, except for the almost wall to wall carpet lol
By '74 there had already been the first Arab oil embargo. Gas had doubled in price almost overnight! By the time these pictures were taken gas had probably skyrocketed to the ungodly price of 40-45 cents a gallon!!
I am sure you are right Mike, that was in the heart of my mini bike days.

Dang eye's are getting old! Plus I'm viewing this on a small "low res" laptop!
It looked like a large dark square.... I see now that it's just the lighting

The T-birds are 77/78 style tail lights. 79 used a single reverse light mounted down where the 77/78 tail lights meet. So it could be the last of the 78's rolling out, but doubtful about any 79's being in there.
