Cool Excursion

I have a 2000 Excursion which went underwater up to the dash. Can not get the fuel pump to go on. Replaced PCM, fluids, spark plugs, fuel filter, checked inertia switch(and cycled it), siphoned gas and replaced. Won't start, unless I spray gas down the throttle body. Help

Try replacing the fuel pump relay near your flashers behind the dash. You'll need to pull the radio.

Thanks for the quick response. I have already replaced all the relays and fuses, both in the engine compartment and under dash. Did that when I didn't have spark. That was when the computer was replaced.

Have you plugged 12V directly in to the pump to make sure it works? Also, have you checked the connector at or near the pump to confirm it is getting 12V?

No, i was hoping to find a wiring diagram for the fuel pump. I do not want to drop the tank, now that I put some fresh gas in it. Also, truck is outside in upstate NY. Not too much fun crawling around underneath. (cold, snowy, miserable). It is sitting on a gravel lot I own, not even on asphalt.

Thanks guys. It is my 80 yr. old father-in-laws truck that I kind of inhereted just after I sank it. Luckily he kept the collision on it. It was a total loss and I bought it back from the Insurance company. Don't have $40,000 for a late model replacement, besides this one has 67,000 miles on it. The salvage yard was itching to get there hands on it. Sooo, torching it is not an option, it already has been totaled. Thanks, anyway

Dennis how awesome is that. I am in Penfield. I will be in Geneseo next Friday. My daughter plays basketball for Fredonia, and the two schools are playing each. I am making the big trip of 25 minutes.

About 28 miles according to mapquest, depending on where you are. I have been at Churchville -Chili High school many times, it is about 25 minutes away

You may have ice in the pump. Get it inside and warm for 24 hr. and see if the pump will run.

Thanks LX. I have been working on it for about a month now, well before the cold weather set in. Although it is in the teens now, last week we had close to 50 degrees when I was playing with it.

Last year my boy put our 93 f250 in water up to the windows. I removed the fuel filter and turned on the fuel pump. It had about 3 gal. of water in each tank. After removing all the water from the fuel tanks I replaced the fuel filter with a new one and turned on the fuel pump and purged water from the fuel rail. The water will be on the bottom of the tank and if any were to get in the pump or fuel line and freeze it may not all melt during the day. Just a thought.

I wanted to do the same thing, but cannot get the fuel pump to turn on. Am probably going to have to drop the tank and hotwire the pump to see/hear if it is working. It's just to damn cold out and I am a big baby, even though I am in construction.
