Kirby , I think the spec for the band adjustment is 10 inch lbs. I have an instruction sheet for a Transgo reprogramming kit and it has a different method adjusting the band. If you plan to tighten it try the inch lb method first and if you think it still might be slipping then post back up and I will either find where I posted or re type it on a post here. Its like a paragraph or more so its kind of a pain in the butt to type it.

You do know where the adjustment bolt is I am sure?

I think the trick shift is like a type F fluid and has some grit in it. That stuff helps for the band and the friction clutches to grab better. Which leads me to believe the tranny probably wont be in service too much longer. Sounds like there may be some wear on that stuff in there.

You might be running a C6 rebuild thread before too long. I hope not though.

I will probably leave the bands alone. But thank you.

The Trick Shift bottle says it meets or exceeds Type F specs. As you say, it did help with stuff grabbing better. On my way home tonight I wanted to see how it'd do so I manually shifted and got the engine up to 2000RPM in 1st before shifting to 2nd, and did the same in 2nd before going to 3rd, and it grabbed real hard. All of this at part throttle, not WOT. No slip at all.

I am still suspecting the mod valve since it only comes into play in Drive. Sometimes as I drive around in 3rd it almost feels like it's losing grip and pulling back a little like it did in 2nd; and since you don't have 3rd if you don't have a functioning mod valve, that would point to a bad valve.

I've had issues with this transmission for years...it's always had a leak and it's been run low on fluid more times than I can count, but I'd always top it off ASAP. I'm sure it's seen far better days, but if it can hold on for a few more months til I can get my Jeep running, I'll park the truck and start getting stuff together to swap in either another used C6 (a rebuild is something I don't want to tackle myself, and having a shop rebuild it is $800-$1000 I don't have) or swap in something like a T18 or NP435. A ZF would be nice but from what I'm reading, it'd be alot of work just to get stuff to fit and work. I want something that'll bolt in. To tell the truth, a manual would be great since it'd help a little on mileage.

But I can't complain about this truck. It has given me so many years of faithful service, it's about time it got some TLC.

I bet you could easily find a running when pulled C6 tranny on craigslist or something like that for under $200. I know Gary might have a couple laying around. That would be a good option if you find yourself up this way. Where do you live in TX Kirby?

Yea I will check.

I live in Limestone county, in Mexia to be exact. About 40 miles east of Waco. It's like a two hour drive to OK from here from what I understand....

I've passed through OK twice since 2010, both times on the way to Kansas City, MO. Had I only known, I might could have convinced my pastor or my friends I went with to let me stuff a big ol truck transmission in the van. lol
