My buddy that had a 2000 7.3 with 260k happened to do a light roll over on it and the insurance company totaling it. If my buddy doesn't buy it back, he told me I could if I wanted too. So do you guys think I can get my money back out of it by either fixing it or parting it out? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Well then I think you could get your $3g back out but that would be cutting it close. I personally think $3s is a little high if it had some body panels worth selling then you might be OK. If it was $2500 I say do it but $3g I don't know. Just my 2 cents
Yes 4x4. Checking on turbo and chip. For the body panels, I'll have to check into which ones are damaged cause I personally haven't seen it yet cause it is still in impound.
I agree, on the high side. I'm looking at 2 F250s ( 2002 and a 2001 ) each with 160 - 190 k miles going for 5400 and 5100.00. You may get your money back out of it but that s with a lot of effort for little or no gain.
Since it was a roll over That means it was running when it rolled so NO oil to bearings. JUNK!! but for parts or core 500-750.
You'd be amazed at how long an engine can live with no oil if there's no load. Might not have hurt it at all.
Also, I might be wrong here but I don't think that the injectors work without oil pressure, at least not for long? So the engine would shut off pretty quick.

If it's got a good manual trans in it I want it!
Yes injectors are fired with oil so I don't see how it could functionally be hurt at all. And the trans is an auto so sorry.
I also agree that $3k is a little high. I paid $3k for my '00 f350 not wrecked and with only 167k miles on it. Just has bad synchros in the transmission. I would offer them 1500, I doubt they will get 3k for it. If you do get it, put me 2nd in line if it has a good ZF6 in it!
