Power steering pump hoses

Power steering pump hoses

Hi I was Wondering on how do you remove the power steering pump hoses off?

The return hose on the pump should just have a hose clamp that you loosen to slide the hose off. It may have a crimped band from factory in which case it'll need cut off and replaced by a hose clamp. The rest of the hose fittings you use a wrench. If these are OEM lines, then the hoses are likely to be rusted together with the steering gear.

Unscrew each end and it's off really is that easy.

Fitting on the steering box end can be a bit of a pain to get the right angle on but it is doable with just regular open end wrenches.

You really should use a flare nut wrench on these fittings rather than a regular open end wrench. An open end will usually work, but many times they will round those fittings off. A flare nut wrench will minimize the chance of rounding them off. If all you have is an open end, go ahead and use it. If they do round off, you can probably get them off with a vise grip.
