That's what I was thinking Jim. Just don't have the $50 to pick up a new one. Anything I can try to refresh the old one that I've got? New acid or something?

I considered getting it hot so it won't start up and hooking my battery charger right up to the battery leads and see if it would start up with the electric start... Not sure if that's a good idea though.

Looking for a new pistol.. not sure which or what brand. Would like to keep it .40 s&w like my carbine so I can cut down on the different kinds of ammo I have to buy.
I really love my Glock 23 .40, but I've always liked shooting Glocks. The .40 shoots a lot better for me than my Glock 19 9mm did, kinda strange. I do miss the cheaper ammo a bit, but feel better carrying the .40

Depends on the Electronics on the bike. Generally jump starting them is not a good idea, but not impossible.

You could test the specific gravity and see where the ***** float. Not sure I would spend money for acid on a known bad battery. There is trick that a couple of marine mechanics told me they do when de-winterizing boats in the spring, but I've been kind of to chicken to try it. Both my bats are fairly new and spend the winter inside on a fully automatic charger. What they said they do is to plug the battery in and charge it at 30 amps for about an hour and a half. They said it boils all the sediment and crud off of the plates and the batteries will last longer. Seems to make sense, but I've been to chicken to try. My batteries seem to last a very long time anyway.

If you tried something like that on a 12v m/c bat., I don't think I'd do more than 15 amps and I would keep a very close eye on it.

If it's hot and it won't start it's most likely a starter solenoid, starter problem. When it get's hot the coils start to go funny. I'd recommend not hooking up a jump starter to it! Instead, put a multimeter on the battery and try to start it. If the voltage is good, then go to the leads where it goes into the solenoid and test it there, then at the starter to see where the voltage loss is. Could the battery be failing due to heat.. um.. yeah.. but unlikely... If it's like my cheap chinese scooter I had yrs ago then it uses a super cheap starter "relay" and they fail quite easily. A hill billy fix, but good one would be to install a older ford style starter solenoid to get the proper juice to the starter.

Decided against the 40. Went with a 17. Already got BB's for it so no "re-tooling", cheaper to "run", and the wife can handle it better. A little less recoil never hurts when you are in a rapid fire, multiple target scenario either. (Target range - Training type stuff).

Spendy........what flavor? Rock River, Colt, Armalite, Bushmaster...................
Looking at a Colt, a Rock River, and a DPMS Panther?.......The Rock River is available in 7.62x39mm which is interesting, though I have nothing against 5.56x45 and can share with my Colt HBAR AR-15 and my Mini-14.

All good. Rock River is getting pretty popular. I know three people who have been on the waiting list for one of their .308's for just under a year now. Two of them are gun dealers.

In addition to what Dave said, Wholesale Sports in Salem, Rich's Gun Shop (Rich's Gun Shop) in Donald, G & C Guns (www.gandcguns.com) in McMinnville. Gene at G&C and I used to work together. He's a pretty good guy. There is also the gun shop by Wally World in Dallas but I forget the name right now. There is also Larry's Sporting Goods in Oregon City. Good stuff up front, (can't get in the back without LEO credentials) and NW Armory in Portland.

Right now it doesn't even have the battery in it. I have it, but the buddy I'm borrowing the bike from said that it's bad. I'll try charging it up and see what it looks like.

I don't blame you. I want to get my wife a 9mm when she gets around to getting her concealed permit... I really don't like .380's.

CNS Firearms in Albany and the Philomath Gun Shop both have good selections. Corvallis Guns (Used to be ABG Buyers) has an ok selection, good prices on most things.
