new guy-data plate info?
1st hello everybody.my truck '64 F250 4x4---292 4-speed.want to find out alittle info---data plate:wb-120,color-j,model 262,body-f81,trans f,axle24d gvw 7700& DSO 141 794???thanks.......:
J=Red, 262=F250 4X4 7700lb GVWR, f81=custom cab-black all vinyl, f=Warner T98A 4-speed, 24D=Spicer 60 rear 4.56 gear ratio and Dana 44FHD front 4.55 ratio, 7700 GVWR, there is no DSO 141 that I know of. The DSO represents the district the sales order was placed through. They are all two digits. 14 is Pittsburgh and 41 is Chicago. The 794 means the truck was specifically ordered, not bought off the lot. Post the VIN and we can narrow it down a little further.
14 = Pittsburgh PA Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.
1794 = Domestic Special Order number. The truck was special ordered by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot."
Domestic Special Order: The code is composed of 4 numbers from 1963 thru today.

FTE has an AZ Chapter, I suggest you join. Dave, Bill W, Boss9F100 all have slicks, as do other FTE AZ Chapter members.
Way cool to have the PTO and power brakes in place on your truck. If you want to replace the PTO winch contact military salvage yards as they were on lots of mil spec vehicles. One thing I'd encourage you to do is take a 5/16 nut driver and remove the cowl vents and clean them out and make sure the drain holes are clear. These hold dirt and even AZ what lttle moisture you get can cause rust.
again thanks for info---I'm an Az resident but my truck is in Illinois as am I right now visiting.Plan "A" is to get truck to Az too.But not now, wait for warmer weather fix few things then drive off beaten path--thru some back country.colorado would be great too--haven't been there in 30 years.....Get truck to Az drive back way to Crown King from Phoenix...

Gotcha I made the mistake from reading your location, sorry. Then being that it is in Ill. my advice is even more valid, other places to check is the cab mounts. They are know areas of rot as the dirt/moisture gets in and can't get out. Also the core support next to the radiator needs the same treatment as the way it's fabricated holds dirt as well. If you ever have to change the mounts to the frame at the core support just figure on cutting them out since the spring that's in place if rubber on 2x4's will be rusted solid.
