Ive bought caliper brackets form Ballistic Fab, using 84 Chevy K20 rotors, calipers and brake pads. My problem is the rotor is like less than a 1/4 inch from the caliper bracket its probably closer to like an 1/8 inch? With it being so close I cant get the brake pad in between the two. Im I missing something or doing something wrong? If I put the pad in there the nut for the hub would just barely thread on loke 3 to 4 threads. THANKS for any help.
I assume you are talking about the rear axle? How did you locate the bracket? The best method I can think of is to:
1. Install the rotor on the hub and reinstall the hub on the axle.
2. Bolt the caliper with brake pads to the bracket.
3. slide the caliper/bracket over the rotor and butt the bracket to the axle tube being sure that your brake bleeder on the caliper is pointed up so it will bleed (been there).
4. Use a clamp to clamp the caliper tight to the rotor and weld your bracket.
They are bolt on brackets, I just bolted them on then install rotor to hub slid the hub and rotor on axle. Yea its on the rear, I dont no what Iam doing wrong Ive looked at thousands of pictures and it all looks like mine, accept the rotor being so close to the caliper bracket
All the articles Ive read have used chevy parts? I notice the video did is ford rotors. I wonder if they have a different offset like you said? Have to look and see if I can find deminsions on the rotors. Thanks for the help!
The ford rotors are 1/2 inch thicker than the chevy rotors. Ford rotors like 6 1/2 inches tall on hub the chevy rotor on hub is like 6 inches. Iam not sure how to fix my problem. I dont see any diference in my setup than the videos.
