Swap Gen9 front bumper to Gen8

Has anyone swapped the bumper from a later 92-96 truck to an 87-91?
I like the looks of the bumpers with the three openings compared to the plane chrome beam I have on my 88 F350.

Would the bumper lines match my 88 front clip?
Is there an easy way to mount it?

I realize that the frame horns are different between these years, but it isn't clear from my searches what exactly one would need to accomplish the swap.
Can one just modify either generation brackets to mount the bumper or does one have to do some cutting/welding on the front frame rails to make it work?

Thanks

Keep in mind the 92-96 is curved and the other isn't... You would have a gap in the center of the bumper

yes its possible to do all you need to do is weld on some L brackets with a little fab and it will work. but it wont look right to that body style being that ones round and ones curved

x2. Width should be ok. That'll be about it.

OK, I think these are two good reasons to scratch this mod off the list!
Maybe I'll think about cutting the openings in my current bumper to fit the plastic inserts from the later factory bumper.

Thanks guys!

I'm not trying to be a killjoy but I have to ask: Since these bumpers are not the strongest bumper to start with, why would you would want to weaken it further..
