middle row not latching

OK. Had to put the X to work a little bit and had to move a desk to my new office. Desk was pretty big and came in 3 pieces. Had to remove the 3rd row and fold the center row. Only the 2 seats behind middle and passenger. The seat behind the passenger remained not folded as it has the little one's car seat.

After unloading the desk and putting the middle row back and reinstalling the 3rd row, my son was freaking out coz the middle row would slide back and forth.

Pulled over in a parking lot but couldn't figure out why it is not latching.
It is my first time folding the middle row.

Is this a common issue?
Am I missing something?
Please help.
Thx.

I have some stuff that stores on the floor behind the middle row and unless I have it positioned just right, the seat won't slide back to latch. Have you checked to make sure there are no obstructions?

When you fold it, nothing should move. It only moves when you move the lever to tip the back forward some and slide it forward. Not sure how this came about from just folding it.

When you push the lever back to move it to get in the 3rd row, the back tips forward and the whole thing slides forward. To get it to go back, snap the seat back, back into position and then slam the seat backwards to slide it back. I've found it needs to be kinda jammed into place to stay.

Let us know if that doesn't work or if you did that already.

Thanks for the reply Sunline.

There is nothing blocking the seat. The space between the 2nd and 3rd row is rarely used. Lifted the seats, checked for lost toys etc... didn"t find anything that could obstruct anything.

messed with it for a little while, sprayed wd40 on some of the mechanical parts to the seat, kept trying... I can't even see where the seat latches or how the whole bracket even latches and releases so that the seat can travel forward.

After many unsuccessful attempts at slamming the seat back for it to lock, it all of a sudden worked and locked....

guess what?

When I now push the lever to get in the third row, the back tips forward but the seat doesn't move forward anymore.

What the hell is going on???

Maybe the lever that you use to slide the seat forward is not fully seating back in the 'home' position?

I know when I fold the 2nd row flat I have issues...I lift the seat bottoms and tilt forward, remove the head rests and fold the backs forward and they lock in place. My issue is getting the 60 part of the 60/40 seat to unlock and fold back up. I have to reach way into the middle and tug while I try to mess with the lock lever to get it unlocked.

I think I have the reverse of your issue...my lever doesn't fully release...yours may not be fully seating.

Maybe.

This whole issue is giving me a headache. I hate when something is screwy with my vehicles.

LOL... thought about food, toys, clothes etc...

pulled the bottom seats up and really looked in all the nooks and crannies with a flashlight and didn't see a thing.

I sprayed wd 40 in the moving parts I could see and on the tracks.
After slamming it a few times and playing with the backrest position, it all of a sudden locked.

But now, the backrest folds down but the seat won't slide.

Not trying to treat you like an idiot but there is an order to follow to get it to slide forward. You may already know this and I may be simplifying your issue. I hope nothing is broken.

To slide the seat, the lever is pushed toward the back of the truck and the seatback is then pushed forward. If you do the reverse, Lever forward, the seatback will lean forward but the base will stay in place.

I hope it's that easy

I wish it was that easy. The lever doesn't show a front arrow and doesn't move forward. The only way to move this lever is to push it towards the back. When you do so, the seat tips forward but doesn't slide.

There are 2 different levers on the 2nd row bench.

The one on the seat back is the one for the 3rd row passengers to get in and out. It allows the seatback to flip forward and slides the seat forward.

The lever near the seat bottom is the one you lift to lower the seatback down after you had lift up the seat cushion. This one is to make more cargo room.

I'm sure you've tried the correct ones...

I understand how the levers operates and what their functions are. I don't know how the seat started sliding in the first place.

I folded the seat so that I could fit the desk in the truck.

When I tried putting the seat back, the seat just wouldn't latch and started the sliding thing.
Tried to slam it back as suggested by the first reply and no luck.
Tried to add wd 40 on the tracks, and all the visible moving parts. No luck.

All of a sudden, I started messing with the bottom lever and pushed the seatback backwards as if i was reclining and moved it back and forth between reclined and normal a few times and went to slam the seat back.

The seat finally locked and no longer slides forward.

Problem fixed.

New Problem. When I push the top lever towards the back of the truck, to let someone in the 3rd row, the seatback tips forward but I lost the ability for the seat to slide forward.

The problem is not with me everyone . I believe the problem is with the seat of a latch etc... just not sure what to look for. Someone had mentioned on another thread a problem with bent brackets or so. Pictures of where to look at and what to look for would help. I am so confused.

Confused about the problem, not on how to work the levers LOL

can you post a video of you operating the levers so we can rule you out as not being the problem?

I feel like Alaskan Ex when his dad got in a wreck and you all kept saying the accident was his dad's fault....
You guys are like wolves surrounding a confused prey.
And no, the prey is not confused about how to operate the levers... lol
