Need Some Help/Confirmation

Hey guys, My 2004 6.0L f-350 has been having some issues. Took it to ford and they diagnosed the egr/oil cooler is shot and needs to be replaced as my truck is spewing white smoke from the exhaust, overheats really easy, and the coolant keeps coming up empty....

---- please note, I haven't touched the internals...its bone stock under the hood----------------

After some research, I have come up with/been instructed (thanks to EODguyJake) on what to get in terms of replacement parts.

I need yall to just double check it and confirm Im getting the right parts or if I have left anything out.

- ARP head studs/bolts: ARP 250-4202 6.0L Head Stud - Ford Powerstroke 6.0

- EGR Delete: River City Diesel EGR Delete kit 6.0L

- Oil Cooler: 2004 Ford F-350 Parts - Tousley Ford Parts Depot

- Bypass coolant system: http://www.dieselsite.com/2003-20076...waterpump.aspx

- VC 9 coolant flush: Motorcraft diesel engine coolant system iron cleaner VC9

I figure I will order all the parts then take my truck in to just a standard auto/truck repair shop. Do you think they will be able to do all the installs and such or should I take it to a diesel truck shop?

Lastly, I have been told to have the heads checked to see if they need machining...can this be done at a basic auto repair shop or do I need to go somewhere special?

Anything else I am missing? Thanks in advance for your input/advice

I just got done doing my heads studs oil cooler egr delete and a few other things. I had to do some research to find a machine shop that was able to skim the heads. I was told it takes some kind of special equipment. I would ask around allot of machine shops that dont work on the 6.0 heads know who does. I personally would not have your average mechanic work on your 6.0 but I guess that depends on how well you trust your mechanic. I would try to get a recommendation from someone on here. I would have them get new injector 0rings I bought mine from ford, and after found out they dont come with the D-ring in the top. IIRC Riffraff has a oring kit that has the d-ring. It looks like your missing the gaskets in your list. Definately have your heads checked by a reputable shop. Plan on getting all new fluids and filters. If you want that oil cooler to last you might want to invest in a coolant filter at some point.

Goodluck I hope it goes well for you
