Rich
I donated the CD "Days of Purgatory" to the local college for play on their 100 watt FM station. I even bought them a new copy, it was still in the wrapper.
Some greasy haired, zit faced kid looks up at me "Ain't you a little old for this?"
Over the years, I have donated probably 300-400 dollars to that station, but that was the last time.
If we're talking pop and rock I'd have to say Lionel Richie and Steve Perry. Those 2 guys were so important to a guy growing up in the 80's. Lionel had the best slow dance songs and Journey Escape is the all-time parking and make-out album! Ah, youth.
Yeah, ditto on that mikemc, and the other fella - Heart and those Wilson sisters were incredible (and yeah - I reckon I'm a bit of a sexist - at least I'll admit it).

When my lease ran up on my 01 F150, I had mistakenly left that disc in the truck. I went back to the dealership a month or so later for an oil change on a different vehicle, my buddy the service manager came up to me "Hey Rich, you forgot a cd in your truck. The guys in the shop have been listening to it for a few weeks now. They all love it."
Bob Seger and both Ronnie (Skynyrd) and Johnny (38 Special, and Skynryd post Ronnie's death) Vanzant. I hope I got their names right, they rhyme with some other names so sometimes I get confused lol. And that guy from Journey is awesome. How about Eddie Vetter (sp?) from Pearl Jam or the Metallica guy, I can't make my voice sound like that can you? Same for the guy with Disturbed and Godsmack.... 3 Doors Down has a good vocalist too. I suppose their are a lot of unique one's out there.... but Seger and the Vanzant's and the Journey dude are my favs.
I guess the reason I don't like women singers is because when I'm making a fool out of myself singing in my truck (sounding terrible) I feel funny trying to sound like a woman lol.
Bruce Springsteen, Great unique sound. I like most of the singers already mentioned too. But Bruce should be in the top ten somewhere. Did anyone mention Greg Allman, super talent in his prime.
James Hetfield from Metallica gets my top vote. GTEX, glad you mentioned steelheart. They were kind of a flash in the pan that I had forgotten about. I'm going to have to dig out my tape collection and listen to them again. I think the name of the song is Never let you go, or something of that nature and the notes he hits on that song are not believable unless you hear them.
