To start I have a 79 F250, theres no bed on it, Im making a wood flatbed for it. I have the main frame all set up and lagged, screwed and botled together. The frame is painted gloss black. Heres where I wanted a few oppinions on. The top boards I was thinking gloss black as well, but Im thinking of gloss white now, as to not go over kill on gloss black like most people do. Heres the idea I have for the truck, I am going to paint the inside of the cab gloss black, and the outside gloss white, when I get the paints gathered. The windows will be tinted, no chrome on it, only the grill shell will be left original color. Rims are black, the bumbers are gloss black. Thinking of painting the door handles white as well.
I just want a few other ideas, I understand it is MY truck but any ideas or thoughts other wise would help me decide.
I really appretiate any replys or ideas all of you would have. Thank you.
Personally I don't like painted wood.
IMHO Black for the bed would be too much black unless you're going for the "stealth" look, then it should be flat or suede black along with the rest of the exterior. White I think would be too much contrast, sorta slaps you in the face.
I would stain or varnish the wood a darker color using a satin finish.
I was thinking of staining the top boards but to me staining seems to be for high class type rides, which this is not. I dont want a whole black truck, I have a black 80s bronco and that thing gets toasty to the touch in a short time in the sun.
I would consider the dark ebony stain also. You should consider a good marine varnish with UV protection over it to prevent sun from eating it up too fast.
Well seems the sensus for the most part wood should be stained. LOL Well I have some stain ( cherry stain I think) in the garage, that Ill stain a little peice of wood and lay it in the frame and see what I think, but I may end up just painting the rest of it gloss black as well. Its rainin today so Ill have a bit more time to think it out before its done. Ill get a couple pics to show what I have so far.
Thanks
