Am looking for a complete cab subframe for a 1937 Ford pickup.
That would include the side rails, rear cross piece and the middle cross piece. I have new floor pans so don't need them.
The previous owner has cut all this out and I want to go back to somewhat original.
Any help would be appreciated.
That stuff is usually in bad shape along with the floors where I come from. I would suggest fabricating a subframe from square and or rectangular tubing. This should stiffen the floor and give you excellent mounting ability. Since you only desire to be 'close' to original, anybody who climbs under your truck and looks up to find your work not true enough could go and fly the proverbial kite.
Thanks for the comments I guess making a subframe is the way to go.
Has anyone out there done that and if so some pics would be nice.
I am in Ontario Canada.
I drove a 38 tonner for over 10 years as a DD, and now I have a 37 ton and a half. I do believe they are the same. I can look in FTS'05 tonight, lots of that stuff in there. I picture a subframe like in the thread 'jailbar tilt front end' where the Aussie built a tubular frame to hold all the front end parts in alignment. Similar but different. I have never done it, but can imagine it. It could be stronger than factory because they tried to be efficient in use of steel, weight and assembly time. Just a thought......
