For something like car radio installation, I like butt connectors more for ease then anything. I re did all the wiring on my stereo because all the wires were just twisted together and wrapped in tape.
while we are on this subject i have my just put my radio in my 90 truck i joined all the wires and having them all marked makes it easy i checked all as i joined them but i have no balance [right to left] with the new unit as i only have 4 wires coming out to standard speakers no rear speakers yet ,connect the ford unit in and i have ballance any ideas please .the cd radio worked fine in my last truck
you will need that trim ring they offer. Most local shops should be able to get you one for like $5. And all you need to do is file down the edges of the sides that need more room and slide it in with the trim ring on the front of the bezel and bend the tabs over.
I have done in all f150/250 in the 87-96 range in the double digits. Very easy to do and use good crimp connectors. I dont like butt connectors, they are as good as wire nuts and only nuts use wire nuts.
As for their being no balance, if wires are correct on your deck and wiring diagram to your harness then the only thing left is a faulty headunit.

I had this problem on both my 87 and my dad's 92. To fix it, you need to swap the ground wires on the front channels - i.e. head unit left front ground to adapter harness right front ground and vice versa. Or you can move the pins in the adapter harness connector, either way, this should fix the problem.

What happens if you use the fade control?
If that changes the volume between the two speakers,
you probably have one of the speakers connected to
the output for a rear speaker instead of a front speaker
on your new head unit.
wat a stupid idea cant think why they did that ,but i changed the pins and it worked ok just gota get some better speaker the factory one suck , but thanks again
