Just got my 2002 F-150 back from flood damage. I was going down a flooded street and ended up in a drainage ditch. Passenger side of truck was in the water up to the head light on a 45* angle. Got water in the cab but not in the engine. Engine runs great but on start up all the gauges peg over to the right then go back and start to run normal. It also idles at around 900 rpm's. it used to idle at 600 rpm's. The water got up to the exhaust in the engine compartment on the passenger side. Any ideas on what would cause the gauges to do this. TIA...
Your discription is indicating two issues.
One, the battery cable connections or battery.
Two, the IAC is not controlling the idle as it should.
Checkem both out.
That water got you worst than you think.
Good luck.

I replaced the battery this morning and the gauges work fine now. It's still idling a little high. I'll look into the IAC. Now I've got a low rpm miss. Those dang COP's. Changed the fan belt tensioner and fan belt today also. Its still making noise. I think its the air conditioning compressor. It was under water. Oh well I'll be checking it out some more tomorrow. Thanks for your reply...
