So sunk my truck so there was about a foot of water in the cab now all my gauges read crazy on me any ideas on what's wrong its more then dried out by now and this drives me crazy ! Its a 87 f150 4x4 with a 460 swaped in any help would be great thanx
What fmr9 said. Also make sure that any gauge that is slip-on, has the inside cleaned out as well. any dirt/sand will make for a bad connection to the gauge sender. I did what someone suggested to take some emery cloth and scotch-brite the terminal rings for the grounds.
Wouldn't that have about put the computer completely under water, or dang near it?
If it was submerged I'd take a minute and pull it out to remove its top cover and dry or clean it out good and make sure its connector is also clean and dry. Them metal boxes are not water tight.
I had my '90 a foot deep in the cab, @ an angle. It was full from the pass. side to over the stick shift running over into the driver side floor. I may have gotten lucky. I hope you did too cobra.
Should be behind the drivers side kick panel slid into a slot in the firewall, accessed from the out side. Under the hood look down low under the master cylinder and main harness cab connector behind the drivers side inner wheel well connector is vertical.
Need to unbolt the inner fender at its rear edge from the fender, then using a wood stick, like a stout broom handle, pry the lower rear area of the plastic fender well forward to allow enough room for the computer to clear the slot to remove it.
Two nuts hold the ring retaining the computer in the slot, then a 10mm bolt holds the computers connector in place. Be sure a use a little dielectric grease on the connector when you reconnect it.
