Ford F150...? size motor...? EFI....or carb...? is everything back together as far as air cleaner...? various other hoses and tubes that don't run directly to carb or fuel injection body....?

Also kinda sounds like a vacuum leak to me.

make sure you have double checked all vacuum lines, tubes and sensors. I cannot stress that enough.

Ok someones gotta ask might as well be me, the throttle/throttle cable/pedal, is it setting against its stop screw fully returning to the closed position?

If so and it idled right before getting tore down for the valve job then yea I agree, vac leak.

You've checked all vac lines associated canister etc, and checked the throttle body/EGR/IAC etc etc gaskets yea? well then that pretty much leaves the intake gasket/s as only thing left.

Now i know its bad to break stuff but i broke the EGR rail while trying to remove it, so i made plugs for the open holes. that was what i was told to do by a friend of mine. For the vacuum leak im at a loss im new to cars/trucks and the vacuum diagram on my air intake makes no sense.
