Autolite 2100

Is the 1.43 to much for my 292? The reason I ask is most of the information I have found refers to smaller #s. We did put a kit in it but it seems to be leaking at the bushings for throttle plates. So I am not sure what to look for a different carb. or not? It does seem to run decent as is -except for the idle which seems to be hard to fine tune. This is a re-built 292 from a 62-64 in a 55 f-100.

I assume you mean an Autolite 1.23 venturi 2100. It was/is meant for an FE 390/429 engine, so yes it is far too big for the 292. Problems encountered will be high probably rich idle, poor low end throttle response, and real bad gas mileage. There wont be such a thing as fine tuning the idle.

Stock 292 2100s were 1.02 venturi. The later 1.08 venturi models work very well also. 1.14 works well in a mildly upgraded engine. Nothing larger. So stick with the two smaller choices. 1.01 and .98 are too small.

Years are basically 1962-1969.

If by chance you mean a 1.33 venturi, then that is even further out. Let me know and we might work out a trade.

I was trying to read behind that linkage and it looked like 1.43 and I could easily be wrong (just don't tell my wife). When I get some time at home-hopefully tonight maybe I could post a picture to you to better identify this carb. What would my options be for a trade?
Thanks for the information.

Just got to take a look and cleaned it up a bit and it is a 1.14 (don't know how I got 1.43 out of that) so that is not to far off from what I should be running but I do believe that those bushings are leaking air. Not sure of what to do about that.

The 1.14 is worth working with. This outfit https://buy.walkerproducts.com/carbu...mponents/ford/ offers teflon sleeves. I dont know if they are meant for sloppy shafts in the choke, or for worn throttle bores. Try giving them a call. Beyond that a source for bushing material is required, and I dont have one. A look at Enco might produce something.

A leaking throttle shaft can be mimicked by malpositioned throttle butterflys if they arent properly centered, which can happen during a previous build.

You might recheck the jet size in your carb, as they can be out of whack due to previous mis-installations. 50 plus or minus one would be good.
