Fuel bowl heater delete?

Fuel bowl heater delete?
I have had an ongoing problem with my truck (2000 F 350) and after changing the ICP, CPS, drivers side UVCH, cleaning the IPR and replacing the GPR, I'm where I started. Truck runs fine for a while then the SES light comes on and it stalls badly. Usually goes away but had to be towed recently.
I've read threads about the fuel bowl heater causing problems that sound similar and will disconnect and tape the connector to see what happens. Should I remove the element (if only to clean the bowl) ? And what problems will I have without a fuel bowl heater? It can get fairly cold here, I'm thinking the heater must be good for something? My "water in fuel" light has not been working for a while-doesn't light up when I turn on the key like it used to, is this related to my problem?

With the SES light coming on a code was tripped. Are you able to read the codes and see what they are? The Standard OBDII reader will not work on these trucks to read codes.
The stalling may be several things. The fuel pump or screening in the tank being clogged.
Unhooking the heater element on the fuel bowl should not cause you any problems. If the element would short out it would blow a fuse and that is not what is happening here.
Some more guys should come along with some better suggestions.

I'm having pretty much the same problem. My SES light only pops on for the second it takes for everything to reset as if I have just turned on the key. The codes I've got stored are B1203, B1352, B1359, P0500. I've just replaced the UVCH, the ICP, CPS, and ICP pigtail. No change. Some are suggesting it may be a short in the wiring somewhere. Not sure where to begin looking.

No..The plug connects to the fuel heater element and WIF sensor. Disconnecting the plug will disable both. You can unplug the heater from inside the bowl, or remove it, and reconnect the external plug to enable the WIF sensor.

To continue the info flow on what I've tried...
I disconnected my bowl heater. No change. I also removed and inspected my IDM and PCM. No signs of water intrusion or corrosion. Put a little dielectric grease on the connectors and re-installed. No change. I'm probably about to remove the ignition switch and look it over. Not sure how I'd verify that the electrical component has no intermittent breaks but I plan to look it over as closely as I can.

Old thread but I was going to pull the heater element out all together but Only problem I see is I notice the fuel filter has a gasket on the bottom of it and im guessing it seals on that heater element or does it not. So by taking it out would stuff bypass the filter or does that seat against the stem somehow? I know I can just unplug it also but would rather just take it out. I don't need it since it only gets down to the mid 20's around here at the worst.
