Dave, I'm right there with you.

I'm wondering were these guys expect people with an extremely limited tire/locker budget could afford 1200+ for an ARB and the associated parts to make it go ppppshhhhhhttt.

Aussie lockers are less than 350 dollars I think.

Plus, with a selectable, I'd think it would be in the locked mode 90% of the time in the dirt.

Personally, I think a selectable is for people that can't drive a automatic locker on the street.

It was simply a recommendation. Although you and I may not want a selectable locker, most people do not spend as much time in the dirt as others. A selectable has its advantages, just as a detroit, or even a limited slip would. Its all dependant on opinion. His op presents concern with keeping his truck drivable, and not everyone can live with an automatic locker.

That said, I drive my jeep everyday I can, and its a full spool in the rear.
