drive shaft drop kit for excursion

Where can I get a drive shaft drop kit for my excursion. I am trying to find one online. Also would a lift help the body roll instead of having to install a sway bar?

Kingbear,

There are no driveshaft drop kits for Xs because they don't use a carrier bearing. The only way to drop the shaft is to lower the trans/tranfercase. But I'm curious, why do you wish to do this?

A lift will raise the center of gravity of the truck higher above the roll center which will actually create more body roll unless you go to either stiffer springs or better shocks.

I probably did not state it as clearly as I should have. I have heard people say that when they installed a lift that the body roll was not as bad. I was meaning if I got a lift did I still need to get a sway bar.

Also how do you lower the transfer case? Is there a kit or something. If I put a lift on my X how can I prevent it from having the driveline vibration everyone talks about? I though there was some kit that took care of this. Any help you could give me would be appreciated.

Kingbear,

Some lifts will reduce body roll at the expense of ride quality. In other words, the springs are so stiff that they don't allow the truck to roll much. Part of the problem with the SD/X is that the rear shocks are mounted so close together that the motion ratios are terrible in regard to body roll control. A shock with a lot or rebound control (like a Bilstein) will help considerably. I also typically recommend a dual front shock configuration for customers who are more concerned with body roll than plushness.

As far as addressing the rear driveshaft, a lot depends on how much lift you are considering. Under 6" and you most likely won't have a problem. Beyond that you will probably be better off going to a CV rear shaft. I'm not to keen on the idea of dropping the crossmember to lower the trans/tranfer as there are other issues to consider. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply. Man you know a ton about this stuff. I think you are right about if I have a problem I should just get a CV rear shaft. Also thank you for explaining the body roll. I am new to this since my last truck did not have this problem. I appreciate the input. By the way your X is sweet. Wish I could go that big but I have to do way to much travel for anything close to that.

KingBear, you are very welcome. I'm alway happy to lend a hand where I can. That way people don't have to live though some of my mistakes of the past.
