diesel swap

I am going to look/buy a 1988 F250 diesel good running but body shot..Thinking of swapping the diesel out of it into my 1985 F150. Anyone done this? Any comments appreciated...Fuel mileage the 300 gets in my '85 is starting to get a bit old...

I've never personally done a diesel swap, but I'm fairly certain you'll run into problems if you plan to use the stock F150 suspension. Those diesels are pretty darn heavy...

Take your f150 body and put it on the diesel frame. Job done except for replacing worn components on the f250 frame.

Can't swap the body out as the diesel is an extended cab and it's beat,,,too bad cause the motor is sweet, new rad and alternator. The responses I am getting here are similar to the ones I got from the guy selling the truck.

It is possible... but alot of work.

You'll need the engine AND it's transmission as a gas trans. will NOT bolt to a diesel.

Diesel wiring harness.

As for suspension, you'll need to get 1 ton coil springs if you 2wd, witch is a direct bolt in deal.

Radiator, and support for the huge diesel rad....

If you have the cheezy 8.8" rear end, that will need some beefing up.

To be honest, I'd keep the straight 6, way easier doing that than all that work, unless your looking for a project
