that is what the EGR does, it recirculates Exhaust gasses back into the motor..hence the build up, which is all goo because of the oil it sucks through the intercooler via the hose from the CCV.
Thanks for sharing the link to the pictures and your step by step.
That gunk in the intake looked yucky. I take it you have a tuner; what is your take on any concern of too much exhaust back pressure?
From reading it seems most say if mild tune then nothing to worry about; just curious what your take is.
If I keep my truck this may be in my future when the warranty runs out.
Bob
That is basically my take on it as well. I am running the 275 spartan right now but I dont beat on truck too much, I will keep my eye on things however. Maybe one day if necessary install a wastegate.

^Bingo!
Reason why I didnt clean it out at the time was because I didnt have the time to spend cleaning it and I knew Id be back in there within a couple weeks at most. Its only a matter of 4 bolts to remove intake and clean.
I picked up an afe intake today so Ill be doing both, as well as fuel filters this weekend.
I didn't remove my LF tire, wheelwell or plastic
Coolant hose tee.
Doesn't appear you removed the EGR exhaust
Pipe from pass side that goes over to the drivers
Side & feeds the EGR Coolers ??
That was the hardest part of my removal process.
I removed tire as Ive got 35s on truck, and it gave me alot more room, and probably a good thing I did with those two bolts that gave me grief.
Now the pipe you speak of I believe is the pipe that goes to rear of horizontal cooler? That is where I put the block off plate. To be honest I havent looked hard at all the piping on this thing so Im not sure what all else can be removed.

Much, much cheaper. Or you could just dump to atmosphere
I hear ya,
Now am I able to use that same block off plate closer to the turbo or do I need to fab something up?
Ill be taking a look this weekend when I do the other stuff.
