timing or fuel?
My friends have debated over whether it is a timing problem or a fuel problem, I recently installed a new fuel pump and filter. This did not help. We then learned that the exhaust was VERY hot and somewhat shallow. I have to admit that it's symptoms say Catalytic converter, but neither me or my mechanic friends believe that will be the problem. Both exhaust manifolds have blown gaskets. We felt that due to the impossibility of changing the plugs, that some may have been bad, causing the fuel to burn in the exhaust. I paid Ford $750 to change the 10 plugs and check the coils. No luck. Does anyone else have similar issues? This truck starts with the turn of a key and purrs- until you put it in Drive.
