HI, I'm new to FTE and I'm in need of a new set of headers for my 1967 Ford f100 4x4 with a 390 and 4spd with granny gear. I've been looking around and I noticed that 2wd headers are cheaper than 4x4 headers. So my question is being that I'm only 18 and my budgets pretty tight can you use 2wd headers on a 4x4? I've only really seen headers on Summit, so if there are any other places that may have some cheaper full length headers could you post up a link.
Thanks.
Short story......no. The 4x4 headers are configured to not make contact with clutch linkage , front drive shaft and so forth. Some are fender well exit and yes they are not cheap.
I kinda figured they had to clear the clutch linkage and other stuff. Looks like shipped from Summit would be $181.90 and shipped from Jegs would be $185.48 for the same exact header.
I have another question pretaining to radius arms. Do they make a good set of extended radius arms for a 67-72 f100? or will extended radius arms for 73-79's work on my rig? The reason I ask is I recently accquired a 6" skyjacker lift for my rig and I haven't been able to find a set of radius arms for my year.
You may have just gotten yourself a lot of headaches with some issues to over come, Like Pitman arm to short, rear Brake line, Possible drive-line lengths just for starters. orich
