Got a friend that has an '05 that he's wanting me to wire up the high idle on it for him, and I was going back over the install instructions and it lists 2 different wires for the 05-07 trucks. Which one would be better? He's not going to be using it for PTO, and most likely will be for A/C and heat and also to jump people off, but at the same time how often will it go beyond 1200 rpm? I mean if the purple/lt green wire will be better then I'll do it...but I know on my 03 it does just fine staying at 1200 rpm's and it can't go any higher than that...so is hooking to a wire that goes up to 2400 rpm necessary?
I'd say use the PTO option....known RPM at all times and in theory lower fuel consumption since it won't idle higher than 1200 rpm. The only down side I can think of is the torque converter will lock-up as soon as you activate it. Though, since the truck has to be in "Park" and the parking brake set...I don't see where this would be a problem for your friend.

That's what I was thinking. Thanks for the info man.
Ive tried this on my 2004 with no success, i heard that on some 2003 and 2004 models you have to have an Auxiliary Idle Control box to do it. I also have a manual trans if that makes a difference?

Yip, the gear grinder will make a difference. I beleive you are right...you'll need an Aux idle box installed. The factory PTO idle control only works on the slush box equipped trucks.
