New Member - Long time Excursion Owner

Hi guys. I just found this forum today. I've had my Excursion since 2005 right before they quit making them. It's a black 2005 Limited 4x4 Diesel. Black with medium pebble interior. Last time I looked I had about 50K miles on it. I don't drive it all the time as I have a Corvette so I drive depending on my needs that day.

I had no mods or changes to the truck until a few months ago when I put a new set of taillights on. Smoke colored LEDs which look awesome on the black. I also had the windows tinted. It really looks like a secret service truck now.

I'll post up pics later. Unfortunately I'm in need of a new console lid. The woodgrain on it is covered with a clear film of some sort. It just got ruined and now has a hole in it. Noone seems to have a replacement part. I'm looking around for new/used part. I'm calling 2 dearlers here on Monday that may have it. If not, wider search area.

If anyone knows where I could get the center storage lid, pplease let me know.

Thanks!

Welcome to the best Excursion forum on the 'net, HC.

There's another member on here that just purchased a roll-over Ex and he plans on swapping out the diesel engine, then selling off the parts he doesn't need.

Judging by this picture....

......it looks like the center console lid might work for you.

Since you can't use PM's until you've reached 25 posts, you should contact Sunline Fan via email and talk to him about it.

Just please don't discuss purchasing parts from him in this Ex forum, it's against the rules.

Thanks Stewart. I will try to get in touch with him. That would be great. New retail is about $100 but I'm having a time finding one. If I could find some mod stuff I like, I'd consider that.

Thx on forum rules as well. Same as on the Corvette Forum. I'm on there a lot. You get some great info on these forums. I had no idea there was one for my truck.

See you guys around the forum.

Where can I find Ed's info. I can give him a call as well. Thanks much.

Here's a pic of the Ex. I had just had it professionally detailed. It needs some paint work from chips on the front but it still gets some tlc on occasion.

These are my pride and joys. The red coupe is my DD along with the Ex. It goes everywhere that I go. The white ZR1 is my dream car and show car. I am just super proud of it. It doesn't see much road time.

Thanks for the info guys. Much appreciated.

I just wanna know what Lisa does, or what her hubby does, to afford toys like that, with a garage like that, and a lift like that!

I need you to add me to your bank account, Lisa.

Well, I'll fill you in. 34 years at Shell - took a package to retire. Used that to buy the ZR1. Husband owns a small construction company. Doesn't make us rich but allows us to live comfortably (thank God). We worked hard all our lives - never paid a housekeeper or yard person. I drove my cars for years at a time (Suburban for 10). Lived frugally and saved our $. I clipped coupons to buy groceries, hardly EVER ate out (still don't) . Tried to pay cash for things when we could. I bought the coupe when I turned 50. A gift to myself for all of my hard work in life. The ZR1? Icing on the cake. The lift? Had to do it - no more room in my garage. Hubby not allowed in garage - mine - not his. I do let him keep the bike in there, although it gets in my way.

AND - real reason we have some play money to spend - no kids - no heirs (license on the ZR1). So, we just work on spending the kids education that we saved up. I'm pursuing my new passion - cars and learning to drive them 'quickly'.

Moral to my story - God has been very good to us and long hard hours and dedication at work pay off.

Corvette Forum is like that too. Great group of people. When I told the hubby I was looking on here for info on a new console lid - he was like - Oh God - another forum. LOL! He already thinks I've lost my mind with all my mods on the vettes. Then I changed out the taillights on the Ex and blacked them out. Which btw, looks great. He's pretty sure I've gone off the deep end.
