Hey everyone hows it going. First off i hope you all have a happy and safe holiday!!!
Second i have a 1999 F250 superduty. If it rains or there is alot of moisture in the air the radio and the blower motor come on by themseleves. It's a real pain. I'll be in bed at night and all of a sudden it sounds like a party is going on. Than i realize it's my truck!!! Nothing like going out at 3am to shut the stereo and blower off. I know these trucks are bad for leaky windshields. I just had to replace the fuse panel under the dash because it was swelling up with rust and making strange sizzling noises!! I thought that fixed the problem but nope. It still does it. And to make matters worse i just a 1999 F550 and it does the same damn thing!! So i am thinking of pulling the ECM and checking for green pins. Any ideas? It's a pain having to unhook the batteries!!! So if anyone could shine some light on the issue it would be great!! I am going to check the grounds also. The other night in the rain the signals stopped on the F550 and have not worked since. But the hazards and break lights work fine. They are both 99's and both 7.3's (awsome motors!! i have 3 now!!) Thanks again for looking and look forward to hearing from you electrical wizards!!
There is a gem module right above the fuse box. When that gets wet is causes a lot of electrical gremlins. I don't remember all the functions but you should find them in the search function of this forum.
I thought I remembered it also having some more functions. I can try to look up a wiring diagram later and see. I think I would still pull it out and check for signs of water.
