Im thinking about swapping in a 5 speed in my 92 f150 that has a 302. It now has the e40d. Im going to start looking for parts and I need to know what year trucks use the pedal assembly I need to get the correct clutch and brake pedal. Can I get them from any 80-96 or do I have to get pedals specifically from a 92-96? Thanks
not sure about 92-96, but my 88 has an aluminum hanger, while my 84 bronco has an aluminum hanger that didn't look interchangeable, so i would just try and get one out of a 92-96 just to be on the safe side.
Alright thanks for the help you guys. Now what transmission should I be looking for to put in the truck? Its a 2 wheel drive and im going to build a mild 306 (ported gt40 heads mild cam and carbed) but I do plan to spray it every once in a while. Maybe a 100-150 shot. I need a tranny that can hold the abuse or at least can be built to hold the abuse. Thanks
been thinking on this. the 4 speeds (t18,t19,np435) are strong, but are very truck-like as far as shifting and most have a granny first gear. I have an m5od in my 88 that shifts nice (they used to make a short shifter for it too) but I wouldn't want to put a ton of power in front of one. you could even drop a toplaoder into it for a bulletproof 4 speed (using an 80's 3spd/od shifter) but they are getting rarer by the day. outside of stuff that bolt directly in, my favorite tranny is the doug nash/richmond 5 speeds. but while car- based trannies are good handling power, the weight of a truck can be not so great for them.
Yeah its just a toy, will never haul or tow anything. Im not opposed to an automatic either. I was thinking about a built aod, just trying to get some ideas going
