Cool eot

My eot/ect temps have always had a 2 to 7 degree spread since I've had the scangauge. This week I took a trip to Williams, Az. 400 miles one way. Going there the eot ranged 2 to 7 degrees higher that the ect all the way. Normal for my truck. Coming home the eot stayed 12 to 17 degrees cooler than the ect. Any ideas on this phenom?

Weird, my EOT is always higher than ECT Except for initial warm up. EOT sender or wiring maybe?

Strange one. Could be the sensor, but that's odd for them to be just a few degrees off. Definitely check them after a cold night soak.

Was ECT lower or EOT higher, or a little bit of both?

So is it still doing it (reading EOT much lower than ECT) when you're driving? I assume ECT is still reading pretty much normal, it's the EOT that is off.

I seem to vaguely recall someone on here posting once that there Scangauge values were off for an unknown reason. They reset the gauge to the factory defaults and reprogrammed it and that solved the problem. Perhaps that is what you need to do.

EOT was off. Ect was running 194 to 198. Just where it should be at 80 mph and ambient @ low 30's to 40's.

It's right on the money Mark. The cooler than normal eot readings are the only abnormalities. I haven't driven the truck since we returned so I don't know if it's back to normal now or not. Don't need the truck for a few days. Gonna be pushen 80 degrees tomorrow so the Harley will be in use.
By the way, Merry Christmas everyone.

I believe the oil and coolant temperature sensors are identical. You could always swap them!

Merry Christmas to you also Mike!

I don't see how it could be possible for the actual oil temp to be lower than the actual coolant temp in a truck with a liquid to liquid oil cooler. Sure wouldn't be the first time I was wrong, and I'd love to hear how it's possible...but I can't wrap my head around how that could be. Seems like it has to be either the sender or the scangauge.

And yes, Merry Christmas gentlemen.

Enjoy that ride Mike...if it's anything like it was today, it'll be absolutely beautiful out tomorrow.

I agree but after sitting over night the two temps are identical. Guess I'll just have to wait till I drive it again and see if it was just an anomoly. The truck goes in next month for a warranty extension inspection. I will bring it to the techs attention and get his op. and have him check it out. He's pretty good to work with. Thanks for the input Steve. Hope you and the family have a good holiday. Merry Christmas to all of us that are not politically correct. LOL
