Looks nice! We have some Mohawk two post lifts at school, one 15,000 lb and two 7500 lb. Just a tip: make sure the locks are working, we had a 79 Volvo on the lift, about 7 feet up and one lock engaged and the other didn't. Over night the one side leaked down and the volvo almost flipped on it's side! Shop teacher wasn't real happy about that!

And a good safety measure is to lift a car up 6" then shake it up and down, rather have it drop 6 inch than 6 foot!

Be careful!

Congrats to everyone who has scored a lift,, nothing like 'em. I am looking for a drive on lift that was marketed as "Kwik-Lift" it doesn't lift completely but keeps the truck about 2 ft off the floor, perfect for using a creeper and also a comfortable work height. It also addresses my ceiling height/clearance issue and is a perfect height for waxing and for cleaning underneath. Would appreciate any and all leads.

Company web site:

KwikLift drive on lifts, 2 & 4 post lifts, home, commercial, car, truck, forklift maintenance lifts

I found a few on CL, not cheap a distance from AZ:

Kwik Lift Car Hoist

Car Ramp/Lift (KWIK)

KWIK LIFT

This last one seems a little dicey, they're using images from the company's web site. I'd question why they aren't using actual pictures of the unit they're selling:

Kwik Lift Car Lift - WILLING TO NEGOTIATE PRICE!!!

A few weeks ago, I was listening to a local weekly swap meet radio show and a guy called in advertising his barely used kwik lift for sale. He wanted $1k for it. I gave it some thought, but then kwikly talked myself out of it. Can't really do big jobs on it. I can use my jack and jack stands for the same effect and for a lot cheaper.

I have a 2 posts wether lift and it's fantastic for my cars but I can't use it for my 51 pickup , because the arms hit the floor board before the stands tutch the frame rails and I'am affraid to make additional home made supports. Do you have suggestions or how do you used yours?

Thank's

You should be able to buy extensions made for trucks to go on your lift. Contact the manufacturer for more info. They may refer you to their distributor or dealer from whom you can buy the needed parts.

I got a set of truck adapters with the lift I bought. I don't know if they're generic but they all look about the same, make sure you buy ones that are made for your lift.

I was perusing the installation instructions for the Manitowoc lift last night to see where and how to put it up. In the instructions it says the uprights weigh 630 lbs each. I knew they were heavy when I went to pick it up, they were laying on the seller's garage floor and I tried to move them and they wouldn't budge. We used a engine hoist to lift them one at a time onto my trailer and I could tell we were stressing it. I figured around 400 each. Man, I'm glad I have a forklift. I doubt I could do the installation without it.

LOL...come on you big girly man, pull up your big boy panties and just grunt those posts off of your trailer and stand them up. Don't be such a sugar britches.

LOL, just kidding. A forklift is a handy thing to have around. Good luck on the install.

Bobby, I already have them off of my trailer. The real trick would be standing them up. Even with a forklift that's a lot of weight to swing around.

When I bought my first forklift about ten years ago I bought it at an consignment auction. It was ugly and it wasn't perfect, it had some broken brackets and it leak a little fluid. I got it home and my wife asked, "You paid $1000 for that piece junk?" That first piece of "junk" became my indispensable employee. I couldn't have done 1/2 the stuff in my shop without. I had it for over eight years and sold on the 'Bay for $550. I bought another one a little larger that didn't leak like my first one and wouldn't go without one.
